About AEG

La Fabrico are proud to be the South West's Premier AEG Partner Dealers

AEG, Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft, was founded in Germany in 1883, making it one of the oldest and most established names in domestic appliance manufacturing. Over more than 140 years, AEG has built a reputation for engineering quality, technical innovation, and the kind of design rigour that comes from taking appliance performance seriously over the long term.

Today, AEG's kitchen range spans induction and ceramic hobs, built-in and steam ovens, pyrolytic self-cleaning ovens, cooker hoods, integrated dishwashers, and built-in coffee machines. The unifying thread is a commitment to genuine performance: appliances that do what they claim to, reliably and consistently, for the years they spend at the heart of a working kitchen.

AEG appliances are available across a broad price spectrum, from premium entry-level options through to the top-tier series that represent the best in their respective categories. The common factor at every level is the AEG engineering standard: properly designed, properly tested, properly built.

AEG designs appliances for people who take cooking seriously, without requiring them to think about the appliance. It should simply work, perfectly, every time.

THE RANGE

AEG kitchen appliances at La Fabrico

We stock AEG's full kitchen appliance range at our Exeter showroom. Here is an overview of the main categories and what makes the AEG offering worth specifying in your renovation:

Induction Hobs

AEG's induction hob range includes the standout SaphirMatt series, their most scratch-resistant surface, independently tested at up to 10x more resistant than a standard ceramic glass hob. Available as standard induction, extractor hob (with integrated extraction), and the SaphirMatt SE with a smooth matt black finish. Precise temperature control, fast heat response, and the cleanest surface to maintain of any hob type.

Built-in Ovens

AEG's built-in oven range covers standard fan ovens through to the 9000 SteamPro series, their most advanced cooking system. Multiple heating functions, precise temperature accuracy, and MeatPro temperature probes on premium models mean the guesswork of cooking is eliminated. Available in multiple cavity sizes and with TFT touch displays on higher series models.

Steam Ovens

AEG steam ovens use steam in the cooking process to retain more moisture, nutrients, and flavour than conventional ovens. Their SteamPro range combines steam with fan cooking for hybrid results - crisped surfaces with perfectly moist interiors - that are genuinely difficult to achieve with a standard oven. Particularly well suited to fish, vegetables, bread, and delicate proteins.

Pyrolytic Ovens

AEG pyrolytic ovens self-clean by heating to extremely high temperatures that incinerate grease and residue to ash, which is then simply wiped away. For anyone who cooks frequently and values a genuinely clean oven without hours of effort, a pyrolytic oven is one of the most practical kitchen investments available. AEG offers pyrolytic cleaning across multiple series, from mid-range through to their most premium models.

Extractor Hobs

AEG's extractor hob range integrates a cooker hood directly into the hob surface,  a similar concept to BORA but in AEG's own engineering approach. The SaphirMatt Extractor combines up to 10x scratch resistance with powerful integrated extraction and a design that makes a strong visual statement. An increasingly popular choice for island kitchens and open-plan spaces where a ceiling hood is not desirable.

Integrated Coffee Machines

AEG's built-in coffee machine range brings barista-quality coffee to the kitchen without any counter-top appliance. Fully integrated into the kitchen cabinetry, these machines deliver espresso, americano, cappuccino, and flat white at the touch of a button, with the same reliability and engineering quality as every other AEG appliance. A genuinely transformative upgrade for households where coffee matters.

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT

SaphirMatt: AEG's most scratch-resistant induction hob

The most significant recent AEG innovation for kitchens is SaphirMatt, a new surface treatment for induction hobs that fundamentally changes how robust a hob surface can be in daily use.

SaphirMatt Explained

Up to 10x more scratch-resistant than a standard induction hob

SaphirMatt is AEG's proprietary surface treatment for induction hobs, independently tested and certified to be up to 10 times more resistant to scratching than a standard ceramic glass hob surface. The result is a hob that looks as good after years of daily use as it did when first installed, resistant to the everyday abrasion that causes standard hob surfaces to develop dull, scratched patches over time.

Available in three versions: SaphirMatt Induction (standard induction hob), SaphirMatt Extractor (with integrated extraction), and SaphirMatt SE (a smooth matt black finish with up to 3x scratch resistance). All feature a fingerprint-resistant surface that is significantly faster to clean than standard glass.

*Abrasion test conducted externally per IEC 60068-2-70. Scratch visibility assessed internally comparing against AEG standard ceramic glass hobs without special treatment.

CHOOSING YOUR APPLIANCES

How to choose AEG appliances for your kitchen

One of the first questions to answer when specifying a BORA system

AEG organises its appliances across numbered series, from 3000 at the practical entry level through to 9000 at the pinnacle of the range, which makes it relatively straightforward to identify the level of specification that suits your needs and budget. Here is a brief guide to what the series structure means in practice:

how the extracted air will leave the kitchen. There are two options:

Series Level What you get Best for
3000 / 5000 Entry to mid-range Core AEG functionality and reliability, standard controls, fundamental cooking quality Practical kitchens where quality matters without the top-tier price
6000 / 7000 Mid to upper-mid Enhanced features, improved user interfaces, better cooking performance. Steam functions begin here Homeowners who cook regularly and want more from their appliances
8000 Upper-range Advanced cooking modes, touch displays, MeatPro temperature probes, superior extraction Serious home cooks and kitchens where cooking performance is a priority
9000 Premium The best of everything: SteamPro technology, pyrolytic cleaning, wireless connectivity, precise humidity control Those who want the definitive AEG cooking experience and expect the very best results

Matching appliances to your kitchen design

When planning a new kitchen, appliance specification should happen at the same time as the cabinetry design, not after it. Built-in appliances determine housing dimensions, cutout sizes, ventilation requirements, and power and plumbing connections that all need to be incorporated into the kitchen layout from the outset. At La Fabrico, when we plan a Schüller or next125 kitchen, we work with the full appliance specification from the first design conversation, ensuring everything integrates correctly and that no compromises are required at installation stage.

The case for appliance upgrades during renovation

A kitchen renovation is the right moment to invest in better appliances, for two practical reasons. First, installation costs are folded into the overall project rather than standing alone. Second, higher-specification appliances fitted during a renovation will still be performing at their best when the kitchen itself still looks its finest, which is not the case when appliances are replaced piecemeal over the life of the kitchen. Specifying AEG's 7000 or 8000 series rather than the 5000 during a kitchen build is an investment that pays dividends every time the kitchen is used.

COMMON QUESTIONS

AEG appliance questions answered

What is AEG SaphirMatt?

SaphirMatt is AEG's proprietary surface treatment for induction hobs, making them up to 10 times more scratch-resistant than a standard ceramic glass hob surface. It is independently tested and also provides fingerprint resistance and a matt finish that is significantly faster to clean than standard glass. Available across AEG's induction hob range including standard induction, extractor hob, and SaphirMatt SE configurations.

What is a pyrolytic oven and is it worth it?

A pyrolytic oven self-cleans by heating to temperatures high enough to incinerate grease and food residue to ash, which is then simply wiped out with a damp cloth. The cleaning cycle takes two to three hours. For anyone who cooks frequently, a pyrolytic oven eliminates the unpleasant and time-consuming task of manual oven cleaning entirely. It is one of the most consistently valued features among people who have one — and one of the most commonly wished-for by those who don't.

What is a steam oven and what can it do that a standard oven cannot?

A steam oven uses water vapour in the cooking process, either exclusively (pure steam mode) or in combination with conventional fan heat. Steam cooking retains significantly more moisture, nutrients, and flavour than dry heat alone. Results for fish, vegetables, bread, rice, and delicate proteins are noticeably superior to a standard oven — more evenly cooked, more flavourful, and better textured. AEG's SteamPro range combines steam and fan heat for the best of both: a crisped or browned exterior with a perfectly moist interior.

What is the difference between AEG's oven series?

AEG ovens are organised from 3000 to 9000 series. Higher numbers represent more functions, better user interfaces, more precise control, and additional features like MeatPro temperature probes, steam cooking (from series 7000 upward), and wireless connectivity (on the 9000 series). The 6000 and 7000 series represent the best value for serious home cooks. The 8000 and 9000 series are for those who want the very best performance and the most comprehensive feature set.

Can I integrate AEG appliances into a Schüller or next125 kitchen?

Yes, AEG appliances integrate fully into Schüller and next125 kitchen designs. At La Fabrico we plan both the kitchen cabinetry and the appliance specification together from the outset, ensuring housing dimensions, cutout sizes, and service connections are all accounted for in the kitchen design. This is significantly more practical and cost-effective than specifying appliances separately after the kitchen has been designed.
